Maayan Torah Day School

EDUCATIONAL

PHILOSOPHY

“The skills and values being taught in our Judaic program – focusing on classic Jewish texts – enhance a child’s ability to think critically and analytically in their general studies as well.”

– Aviel Brodkin Principal

Maayan Torah Day School offers a K-8th grade learner-centered education prioritizing students' active involvement in the learning process. We focus on each student's needs and progress, creating engaging classrooms and substantive learning.

In Maayan’s student centered learning environment, the student is the central participant in the learning process. We utilize student engagement strategies to foster an excitement for learning which develops SELF-MOTIVATED students. Additionally, our education emphasizes positive student-teacher relationships, where the student’s best interest is highly valued.

Our curriculum focuses equally on General and Judaic Studies. We believe that General and Jewish Studies have a synergistic relationship.  For example, the study of classic Jewish texts amplifies children’s abilities to think critically in their general studies.

Our Judaic program is text-driven, with a strong focus on primary Torah sources. We focus on the skills needed to develop independent Torah learners. Our school offers an environment which conveys the joy and meaning of Torah and Mitzvoth. Our staff is committed to ensuring a positive and accepting feeling that inspires a love for Judaism.

Our General Studies program utilizes curriculum that enable children to continually progress. Small group work as well as project-based learning are instrumental in achieving this goal. Maayan is currently Accredited through AdvancED, an international school accreditation recognized by the Federal Department of Education. Maayan education features:

   *Small class size

   *Professionally trained staff

   *Blended grades

Rhonda Depew

General Studies Coordinator

"Education has always been a passion in my life.  I have had the opportunity to see how a good education and positive classroom can inspire students to reach goals that they never before thought possible.

Education has a way of opening new worlds of possibilities to students.  Through learning and growing, students are able to experience success and try things that they may have never thought they would be able to do.  Personally, I love being part of the field of education for just this reason.  Working with students, and seeing them grow and build confidence in their educational journey is the best part of teaching."
